Why I’m Running for School Board
I’m running for school board because I believe in the power of strong public schools to uplift our entire community. As a father of two public school students in Saratoga Springs, I’m deeply invested in making sure their educational experience—and that of every child in our district—is the best it can be.
We’re entering a critical moment. As we transition into a new school district, we face real challenges: funding, infrastructure, staffing, and maintaining the programs that help our students thrive. But I believe this is also a rare opportunity. If we make smart, strategic decisions now, we can build a district that’s even stronger than what we had before.
I believe I have the skills and experience to help us face this opportunity and make the decisions that set us up for future success.
Smart Resource Management, Real Savings
In my role as a procurement and sourcing agent for a Utah-based scrapbooking company, I managed vendor relationships, negotiated pricing, and oversaw budgets.
One of my proudest achievements was identifying a cost-saving opportunity by shifting printed paper production from a Chinese vendor to a U.S. supplier—saving the company $10,000 annually while improving turnaround time and reliability.
I bring this same eye for efficiency and quality to the school board, where every dollar must be spent wisely to support students and teachers.
Contract Negotiation that Puts Students First
I’ve negotiated everything from vendor agreements to service terms with major partners like Amazon. I know how to collaborate with executive leadership and external stakeholders to secure fair, effective contracts.
Whether it’s working with our teachers’ union or setting up new vendor relationships for the district, I’ll bring a balanced, future-focused approach that ensures our educators are supported and our operations are sustainable.
Policy-Minded, People-Focused
With a degree in international relations, I’ve studied how policy decisions impact real people—and how to build consensus across diverse interests. My education gave me the tools to understand complex systems, evaluate economic impacts, and advocate effectively.
I’ve written proposals that balance national priorities with local needs, and I’ve worked to promote funding for community services like the Orem Public Library. I know how to work with state and national legislators to secure resources and shape policies that directly benefit our students, teachers, and schools.
A Parent Who Understands
As a stay-at-home dad of two twice-exceptional children, I’m deeply involved in their education and well aware of the programs that help them succeed.
From advanced learning and special education to arts and athletics, our family has benefited from the richness of a well-rounded public school system. I’m committed to preserving these opportunities for all students and will work tirelessly to ensure our new district uses its resources wisely to maintain and grow the programs that matter most.
